Ever since he was a young spudlet, he would stand in front of the mirror and sing along to ‘Metal Queen‘ but swapping out the word ‘metal’ for ‘potato’. Yessiree bobby, so when he found out that his potato idol was going to be performing at Sturgis North in Salmon Arm, BC, Canada, The Canadian Potato set out on a journey to get his potato staff potato signed by the one and only, Lee Aaron. Little did he know that Pommee de Terrible was plotting his own journey; a journey that would leave a long trail of potato chips……….

Kamloops City, Holy Cow, holy cow, holy cow, it’s Kamloooooooooops!

Well, boy did we ever kick off our tour with a bang this summer.

First stop? Kamloops City. That’s right. You heard us. Kamloops. Heart of the Interior, some say. It also happens to be our hometown. Iain and I both grew up and learned to first play and perform music there. In fact, we used to be in a thrash metal band called, SADISTIC HUMOR, and we shredded up many a stage in the ‘ole Loops including The IOOF Hall, The Legion, The Eagles Hall, The Cell Block Roller Rink to name a few. Those sure were the good old days.

But alas, we have given up metal for something new and very different: Gogo Bonkers.

This summer proved to be our busiest yet and we were very stoked to be able to travel around beautiful BC this summer. My daughter Zohra decided to come with us on our long 3 week run (which is nothing compared to Maria In The Shower-they did an 11 week run) and boy did we ever have a blast. Our first destination was Sturgis North and, as we later discovered, it was also the destination of Pomme de Terrible!!

Anyway, here’s a quick video of us rolling into Kamloops on the first day of our tour. Next stop: Salmon Arm!!

So you might be asking yourself how does a children’s band get booked at a biker festival featuring a bunch of hard rock bands from the 70s and 80s? Well, let’s just say we’ve got some connections. Yes, it’s true. Gogo Bonkers will be kicking off their summer tour at Sturgis North in Salmon Arm, BC. We’ll be performing 5 shows from the 13th to the 17th at the Salmon Arm Fairgrounds so if you know anyone with kids in the area, let them know that we’ll be there.

Well, we did it. Maggie and I traveled all the way from Vancouver to Driftpile, Alberta to perform at The North Country Fair and what a trip. On our way there we encountered Angry Arnold, who was also on his way to The North Country Fair in search of some potato pancakes. Yes, we thought it a tad odd that he was walking all the way to northern Alberta for his favourite breakfast, but apparently he really does love potato pancakes with maple syrup.

Boy did it ever rain while we were there but we did not allow this to dampen our spirits and we managed to catch an incredible amount of fantastic live music while we were there. Bands like Oka, Maria In The Shower, Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra, and The United Steelworkers of Montreal rocked the stage hard and kept fans jumping up and down and dancing despite the rain and the mud.

I am happy to say that my new partnership with The Lost And Found Puppet Company has proven to be quite satisfying and successful and we look forward to doing more shows together in the future.
